WoW Leatherworking 1 - 525 Profession Guide

This WoW Leatherworking 1 - 525 guide will show you how to raise your leatherworking skill from 1 - 525 in the quickest and most cost effective way. This guide is updated for the Cataclysm expansion, patch 4.3

Prerequisite

There are two ways to go about raising your skill level; farm the items / materials yourself which takes longer but is extremely cheap OR purchase them off the auction house.
All professions can be leveled up to 525 for around 3000 gold, so if you want to do it the quick way make sure you have at least 3000 gold before starting.

Things you should ideally have before starting:

• A level 85 character
  
• Flying Mount

If you don't have any or only some of the above, don't worry you can still carry on, it will just take you longer to get to 525.

Apprentice 1 - 55

Expert 155 - 200

This next section can be a bit of a nightmare, and it all boils down to being lucky, let me explain why.
From 155 to 200 you will need [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] which you get from [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] But (and it's a big but) Heavy Hides have a pretty low drop rate and therefore take a long time to farm, they are also expensive because of this. The best place I've found to farm Heavy Leather and Heavy Hides are from the [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] over in Feralas. So be prepared to spend some time over there if you take the farming route.
Another potential problem is getting hold of the [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link]. You can pick it up from 2 NPC's (only 1 if you are horde) and it is a limited quantity item with a re spawn rate of at least a day. So if you are lucky you might pick it up right away, or you could be waiting for a long time!
If you don't manage to get the pattern, at 190 - 200 you should make [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] instead.

Artisan 200 - 300

Go and visit your trainer and learn artisan leatherworking. There is also a good spot to quickly farm [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] if you fancy saving yourself a bit of gold. [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] tucked round the back of New Kargath in Badlands. The whelps will have respawned by the time you've cleared them out and they drop [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] which will come in handy later on.

[Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] can be difficult to get hold of, much like the heavy hides. If you don't want to or can't buy any from the Auction House then [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link]'s are your best bet to farm them. They can be found in the top right hand corner of Zangarmarsh.
You can also make Thick Draenic Vest's up to 350, however the recipe goes yellow at 345 so be prepared to have more mats at the ready if you do.

Grand Master 350 - 425

You will need to head over to either Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord to learn Grand Master Leatherworking. Click on a trainer for their location.

For the last time visit your closest trainer and learn Illustrious Grand Master Leatherworker. On a side note, you need to be at least level 84 to continue on past skill level 510.

For the final stretch of this guide you will need to visit your closest major city (not including Dalaran or Shattrath) and pick up the 510 - 525 recipes. Each item you make gives you 2 skill points and will turn yellow after 5 points; at that point you switch to a different recipe. You can buy the recipes off the "Leatherworking Supplies" NPC's and they cost 10 Heavy Savage Leather.
