WoW Herbalism 1 - 525 Profession Guide

This guide will show you how to raise your herbalism skill from 1 - 525 in the quickest and most cost effective way. This guide is updated for the Cataclysm expansion, patch 4.3

Prerequisite

Herbalism is a great money maker and goes well with Alchemy. One way that Herbalism differs from the other gathering skills is that the herbs can be found all over the map, instead of from specific mobs or in certain locations and since you can now track more than two things i.e. mining and herbalism you can learn both professions and make hundreds of gold. So if you are looking to make lots of gold, Herbalism should be your first choice, along with mining!
Also please note that this guide is not about making money with herbalism, it's about raising your skill level to 525 as quickly and economically as possible. If you choose to sell the herbs you gather then you can make a handsome profit from it, there's no doubt about it. However that is not in the scope of this guide, just getting to 525 as quickly as possible.

Things you should ideally have before starting:

• A level 85 character
  
• Flying Mount

• [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link] - on a low level set of gloves
  

If you don't have any or only some of the above, don't worry you can still carry on, it will just take you longer to get to 525.

Another thing you should note before you set off are the colour codes associated with the gathering skills.

• Red: Can't gather
  
• Orange: Difficult to gather, high chance of gaining a skill level
  
• Yellow: Moderately difficult to gather, moderate chance of gaining a skill level
  
• Green: Easy to gather, low chance of gaining a skill level
  
• Gray: Very easy to gather, you won't gain a skill level

Apprentice 1 - 70

Start off by learning [Trebuie sa fiti inscris si conectat pentru a vedea acest link]; see the list for your closest trainer. Herbs which you see with brackets around them means you need to have that skill level to gather them. E.g. Earthroot(15) means you need a skill level of 15 to gather it.
Begin in your nearest starting area. I'll be using Dun Morogh for Alliance and Durotar for Horde.

Alliance

Dun Morogh - Gather Silverleaf, Peacebloom and Earthroot(15).

Horde

Durotar - Gather Silverleaf, Peacebloom and Earthroot(15).

Journeyman 70 - 150

At this point visit your closest trainer and learn Journeyman Herbalism.
Hillsbrad Foothills - Gather Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed(85).

Expert 150 - 230

Make sure you pay a visit to your nearest herbalisn trainer and learn Expert Herbalism.
Feralas - Gather Kingsblood(125), Fadeleaf(150) and Khadgar's Whisker(160).

Artisan 230 - 275

Make sure you pay a visit to your nearest herbalisn trainer and learn Artisan Herbalism.
Thousand Needles - Gather Sungrass(230).

Master 275 - 325

Learn Master Herbalism. It's a bit of a journey this one if you don't have a flying mount as you'll need to take a trip over to Hellfire Peninsula.

Swamp of Sorrows - Gather Golden Sansam(260) and Sorrowmoss(285). There is no pre-defined route with Swamp of Sorrows, just go anywhere as the herbs are littered all over the map.

325 - 350

After Swamp of Sorrows head back over to Hellfire Peninsula.
Hellfire Peninsula - Gather Felweed(300).

Grand Master 350 - 380

Make sure you pay a visit to your nearest herbalisn trainer and learn Grand Master Herbalism. You can visit either Howling Fjord or Borean Tundra for this next section.
Howling Fjord - Gather Goldclover(350).

Borean Tundra - Gather Goldclover(350).

380 - 450

You'll need to pick up Tiger Lilly until you reach 400 then you can start on Adder's Tongue.
Sholazar Basin - Gather Tiger Lilly(375) and Adder's Tongue(400).

Illustrious Grand Master 450 - 475

Make sure you pay a visit to your nearest herbalisn trainer and learn Illustrious Grand Master Herbalism.
Mount Hyjal - Gather Cinderbloom(425).

475 - 500

Head over to Deepholm for the penultimate section. There are Heartblossom all over Deepholm, but you must remember that there are different phases and whilst you might be able to collect them in certain phases, you won't be able to afterwards. Not only that Deepholm is the only place you can find Heartblossom, which means it will be heavily farmed, so the quicker you can get out this area the better.
Deepholm - Gather Heartblossom(475).

500 - 525

To finish off this guide head over to Uldum. It should be less crowded than Deepholm and you should be able to reach 525 much quicker.
Uldum - Gather Whiptail(500).
